Aligner Comfort

April 30th, 2018

MANY PATIENTS TODAY are choosing aligner treatment for orthodontic tooth movement. There are many reasons influencing this choice, including appearance, ability to eat all foods, and comfort.

Aligner therapy also eliminates the possibility of broken braces brackets or poking wires. For the busy professional or college student away at school, traveling, or living abroad, aligner comfort is a big factor for orthodontic treatment comfort consideration. There is however one tool you should include in your aligner emergency kit. That is a nail file or emory board.

How Does An Emory Board Help?

Just as with braces, your initial aligners may irritate your cheeks and tongue for a short time and will take some time to get used to. Aligner edges may slightly stick out due to the shape of your gums when they are originally scanned or captured in the initial impressions for your aligner tray fabrication. You can smooth any slight protrusion in your aligner with your sandpaper nail file to immediately increase comfort without making an emergency trip to the orthodontist.

Come See Us!

If you have questions about aligners, Invisalign, Clear Choice, or overlay clear retainers, call us at Gorczyca Orthodontics in Antioch, California 925-757-9000. If you are interested in aligner orthodontic treatment, call us for a free exam or visit our website at www.clubbraces.com.

Gorczyca Orthodontics has been providing aligner orthodontic treatment with Invisalign since 1999 and we have several hundred very happy aligner patients.

Here’s to your aligner orthodontic treatment and comfort! Your smile is our inspiration.

Eat Gelatin For Healthy Gums

November 3rd, 2017

YOU MAY NOT THINK of gelatin as a health food. Yet, homemade natural jello is one of the best things you can eat for healthy gums.

Gelatin And Gum Tissue

Gelatin is made of collagen. The collagen of natural jello gives your body the amino acids glycine and proline, which are important for new collagen synthesis in your gums. New collagen produced in your gums helps make your periodontal tissue firm and strong. Some components of the collagen in gelatin have been shown to help repair gum tissue and can also be beneficial in your body’s wound healing.

Gelatin’s Other Benefits

Not only is natural gelatin good for your gums, it is also good for your bones, teeth, cartilage, joints, and digestive tract. Gelatin can help reduce wrinkles. How great is that? Gelatin can also give you healthier skin and hair. It can even reduce cellulite! In addition, gelatin has been found to improve sleep and relieve stress.

Homemade Gelatin

To make your own healthy gelatin at home that is low in sugar and free of artificial coloring, try the recipe below:

  • 4 Tbs gelatin power
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 3 1/2 cups fruit juice
  • fruit
  • shredded coconut

Mix ingredients together, then chill in refrigerator.

Enjoy Your Gum-Healthy Gelatin Treats!

With all these health benefits, why wouldn't we all eat gelatin? Make some gelatin for your gums. Gelatin can be acquired either in a powdered form for your recipes or from bone broth.

Here’s to your dental health!

Your Orthodontic Treatment Helps Prevent Health Issues Down The Road

July 12th, 2016

NOTHING COMPARES TO YOUR BEAUTIFUL straight teeth! We know you’re excited to complete your treatment and unveil your new smile. We are too! But did you know that orthodontic treatment isn’t just about looks? Straight teeth can also contribute to your oral and overall health.

Malocclusion Causes Extra Wear On Your Teeth And Jaw

Malocclusion refers to the alignment of your jaw and your bite. When your bite is misaligned, it can lead to unnecessary and uneven wear on your teeth. And that can lead to chipped and fractured teeth.

Malocclusion can also cause problems with your jaw—called a temporomandibular disorder, or TMD. TMD usually shows up in the form of chronic headaches, difficulty opening your jaw, and ringing in your ears.

Fortunately, your orthodontic plan is designed to align your bite and ensure that you won’t have problems with malocclusion down the road.

Crowded Teeth Pose A Danger For Teeth And Gums

Another issue that many people deal with before orthodontic treatment is crowded teeth. Crowded teeth pose a danger for both your teeth and your gums. Why? Because they’re harder to clean and more likely to hide away bacteria. This bacteria inflames your gums and causes cavities.

Orthodontic Treatment Is An Investment That Pays Off

Next time you catch a glimpse of your braces in the mirror, think about the great investment you’re making! Orthodontic treatment can save you big down the road, and it can even help your overall health throughout your life.

And, of course, it will give you a gorgeous smile!

Should I Do Four Veneers?

September 17th, 2015

ORTHODONTISTS ARE OFTEN ASKED by adult patients seeking straight teeth "Should I do four veneers?"

The answer is "YES!"

Four Veneers Create A Beautiful, Consistent Smile

A single veneer or crown is easy to notice. The shade and translucency is extremely difficult to match to the surrounding teeth.

Four veneers will produce a spectacular consistency of tooth shade and anatomy that will make your teeth look like you're in your twenties. People's reactions to your new smile will be beyond positive. With four veneers, you will feel confident knowing that you and your teeth look their very best.

We Want To Help You Create Happy, Healthy Smile

This case was treated by Orthodontist Dr. Ann Marie Gorczyca. We work closely with general dentists to give you the best smile possible. Find us at www.clubbraces.com or call us at (925) 757-9000. We want to give you the smile of your dreams.

You never get a second chance to make a good first impression. So why take the chance? Say "yes" to four veneers.
