Dental Sealants Protect Your Teeth From Cavities

December 13th, 2016

DENTAL SEALANTS PROTECT your teeth from cavities. This is why it is important for children and even adults to get clear, white, or shaded sealants placed in the pits and fissures of their adult teeth.

Sealants Can Be Placed At An Early Age

Sealants can be placed in back permanent teeth as early as age 5. It is best to place sealants as early as the permanent first and second molars, and permanent first and second premolars erupt into the mouth. Sealants do not show when you smile and are easy to have placed in your mouth. Sealants can protect up to 80% of your tooth surface from decay.

Sealants Last A Long Time, But Still Need Replacing

Sealants can last up to 10 years. It may become necessary to have your sealants replaced. This is usually done by a general dentist or a pediatric dentist. Most insurance plans include benefits for the placement of dental sealants.

At Gorcyzca Orthodontics, we recommend placement of sealants prior to orthodontic treatment. We want all of our patients to remain cavity free for a lifetime.

We Care About You Very Much at Gorczyca Orthodontics

December 6th, 2016

AT GORCZYCA ORTHODONTICS, we personally care about each and every one of our patients.

We Provide Personalized Care

We are not a huge chain. We have only one excellent doctor, six assistants and six treatment chairs. Five chairs are scheduled with patients. Each patient has their own assigned dental assistant serving them throughout their appointment. We have one over flow chair so we are never without a chair or in a rush for your appointment to end.

After you are seated, Dr. Gorcyzca will be briefed before she examines you. She will make a recommendation for your adjustment and your next appointment. We will always ask if there is anything more we can do for you before you are dismissed.

We Love Getting To Know Our Patients!

It's great to know you! At your initial exam we ask "Tell Us About Yourself." We start our treatment by getting to know you and addressing your orthodontic concerns. We aim to treat each patient, one at a time, with tender loving care.

There is only one orthodontist at Gorczyca Orthodontics. Dr. Gorczyca diagnoses and plans treatment for each and every case personally. She is Board Certified, in the Angle Society, a university professor, and has over 25 years experience and has treated over 10,000 orthodontic patients successfully.

Each Patient Is Unique

Every bite is unique and every person is special. This is one of the things that makes our work at Gorczyca Orthodontics so rewarding.

Dr. Gorczyca will communicate closely with your general dentist about your orthodontic care. It is important for you to have regular dental cleanings during treatment. Restorative and cosmetic treatment procedures and oral surgery and periodontal care will be coordinated with your orthodontic treatment.

We honor our relationship with you, the customer. We will work hard to give you personalized care and a beautiful smile. We look forward to seeing you soon. Find us at www.clubbraces.com or call us at (925)757-9000.

Pregnant with Braces

November 29th, 2016

CONGRATULATIONS! You're pregnant!

If you are wearing braces, let your orthodontist know as soon as possible your happy family news.

Your orthodontic treatment will continue while you are pregnant with a few special considerations.

Considerations for Dental and Orthodontic X-rays

Your orthodontist will elect not to do X-ray (radiographs) while you are pregnant. Please let all dental and medical professionals know when you are pregnant and restrain from having X-rays taken.

Pregnancy and Gingivitis

Due to the increased levels of your hormones, your gums are more susceptible to gingivitis. You may have "pregnancy gingivitis" if your gums become puffy and you are pregnant. Your gums may bleed when you brush and appear red. This is due to pregnancy gingivitis which affects up to 70% of pregnant women.

Pregnancy does not cause pregnancy gingivitis. The altered tissue metabolism of pregnancy accentuates the response to local irritants. For this reason, it is of utmost importance for your oral hygiene to be excellent during pregnancy for your to avoid the pregancy gingivitis condition.

If you have symptoms of pregnancy gingivitis, your orthodontist may recommend additional cleanings with your dental hygienist. These are best done with the orthodontic arch wires removed. If you have gingival enlargements of your gums, your orthodontist may also send you to your dentist or a periodontist for additional specialty gum care. Our goal is for you to have minimal gingival inflammation during pregnancy with no infections of your teeth or gums.

Your teeth may also feel lose during pregnancy if you have pregnancy gingivitis. Your orthodontist may recommend that your teeth be moved more slowly or not at all during the last trimester of pregnancy.

Pregnancy gingivitis can be minimized or prevented by excellent oral hygiene from the beginning to the end of your pregnancy.

If You Have Questions, Let Us Know!

If you have questions about orthodontics or pregnancy gingivitis, visit us at Gorczyca Orthodontics in Antioch, California. Find us at www.clubbraces.com.

Your body may feel hot during pregnancy as well. Due to your hormonal changes, your taste buds may have the constant urge to eat ice cream. Eat up and enjoy this special time. Come see us for braces when your pregnancy is over and be sure to bring your baby for an initial orthodontic exam at 7 years old.
